This Friday marks year number TWENTY for the Avanti’s Nutcracker and it’s hard to believe we’ve been at this for that long. Geesh…I feel old!
My first Nutcracker was in 2000 and it’s one that is often talked about and remembered in Peoria rock history; it’s the show that Linkin Park…opened the show…for Papa Roach, at the Madison Theater. Anyone remember? Bahan and I argued (shocking I know) just days ago if this was a Nutcracker show..he was right…I was wrong. But look at Mattie B…he’s been doing the same pose since 2000…and probably since birth. I..on the other hand…what was I thinking with those curls…yikes!!!
Here’s something better than this epic picture…in my quest to prove Bahan wrong (I failed) i found THIS video of Linkin Park performing at that concert. Looks like “Wes H” was the one who uploaded it to youtube, not sure if he shot the video but thank God for putting it online.
We should have known then that Linkin Park was going to explode into rock superstardom! ‘In The End’ was released two months prior to the show and shortly thereafter is when they took over the rock music world and never looked back. Sad now seeing it with Chester Bennington gone…but wow…what a show, what a memory. I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years of Nutcracker brings us…and who!
See you Friday.
