Yep, I will admit it. I’ve been a Kings Of Leon fan since 2002, when I had a radio pal tell me about them. I purchased their album ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ soon after that, and I was immediately hooked on these guys. They are a band that is hard to define musically. No one really sounds like the Followill Brothers and Cousin. I hear Country, Rockabilly, Punk, and Soul in their music, and even a slight Grunge influence. Raw, emotional vocals and lyrics. Whiskey soaked, over the years. Their personal story is as outrageous as their partying. They come from a very religious background, with a Pentecostal Father and Grandfather, but a family music vibe that dominated their lives. We all know their big explosion just a few years ago with ‘Sex On Fire’, and ‘Use Somebody’ that blew up on Rock and Alternative Radio world wide. They are a band that is at their prime, which is why I’m excited to play their new song today on the Morning X!
I debuted their new single, “Waste A Moment”, today, and it’s a no nonsense straight ahead soulful Rocker. Fast drums, upbeat, with a catchy chorus and great guitars. New album on the way, and tour. Wouldn’t it be great to get these guys here in Peoria soon? Yes…..I agree! Enjoy the new Rock!
