No Man’s Sky is one the most hyped indie video games this year and it is finally released. The game is a survival action thriller in which you can explore an entire universe where you can go to different planets, moons, asteroids, and galaxies in a pursuit to gain knowledge, build technology using resources you find, and try to discover the center of the universe. Developed by Hello Games, No Man’s Sky has some pretty unique features that make this game ahead of its time; most of which being the games environment engine. Each person who plays No Mans Sky will have a different experience than anyone else. The environment of every planet, moon, and star system is different for everyone. The game has over 18 billion planets, making the adventure nearly endless. There is always a new sky ahead.
Much like Minecraft, the game has a destructible environment that lets you be able to mine out resources as well as dig and find caves where secrets lurk at every corner. Secrets such as learning about the culture and language of the different planets, rare resources to give you an edge as you go on your exploration, and items that can help you build new technology to prepare you for whatever you may encounter on the surface. Some people may encounter a hostile environment or wheatear conditions. Poisonous rains, extreme heat and cold temperatures, agro beasts, and sentinels that guard the planet are type of problems that you may need to prepare for when you discover a new planet.
Another thing to keep in mind is your travel experiences between planets. In space, you will encounter other ships and freighters that are carrying supplies and resources. You can choose whether to trade with the other species or steal from them and loose your reputation amongst them. If you try to steal them, you may get the police after you and they will shoot you down. But if you build a ship that is fast, maneuverable, and has good weaponry, you might just be able to get away with it. You will also need a pretty damn good ship if you decide to make the perilous journey to reach the center of the universe.
No Man’s Sky is currently out for the PS4 and will be out for PC this Friday.
