The highly anticipated movie, Warcraft, hits theaters this Friday. Directed by Duncan Jones, this will be Blizzard game company’s first full-length feature film. Since it was announced, people have been weary of another video game film, and seeing one that has such a long history only makes fans more cautious. World of Warcraft has been around for over 10 years and is a well loved MMO RPG (Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Hopefully the 160 million dollar budget that’s been put into the making of Warcraft was put to good use.
For the past twenty years people have seen well loved video games get torn to shreds with horribly written screen plays or terrible graphics that put the game to shame. Titles in the past such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and even the 1993 Mario Bros. movie were not well received with complaints of horrible story telling, bad acting, or crap quality. On the other hand films such as the Resident Evil series, Hitman 47, and Tomb Raider staring Angelina Jolie were received better, but still not to the point of being considered a “good” movie.
Will Warcraft turn out not so bad, or plummet into the pits and go down as another shotty video game film? Check it out in theaters this Friday.
