X Rockers!
You know one of my happy places is a music festival! Last month my husband & I loaded up ol’ Goldie Honda & headed out on a road-trip (with the appropriate amount of snacks, of course!) to St Paul, MN to check out the 2nd annual Minnesota Yacht Club Fest. The lineup was PACKED with a whole slew of alt, emo, punk and blues ROCK!
With a nice flat fest venue, along with great weather and plenty of vendors, MYC Fest was super family-friendly and packed a punch with a diverse and well curated line up. My husband and I, the Haney, fell into the “Minnesota Nice” mode and enjoyed the laid-back vibe!
The amenities, including hydration stations, food vendors, Jersey Mike’s, Ghost Energy Drink, Cann, Beat Box (and MORE) were a great addition to the experience, including samples and fabulous give aways…it’s like adult trick or treating!

At the end of day 1, Hozier’s set got cut short due to rain and storms. Day 2 was a standout with an unusual occurrence…the Minneapolis based Motion City Soundtrack’s frontman was unable to perform due to respiratory issues, but instead of canceling, they had a wide array of guest vocalists, including Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy who was performing later that night! The music world is a beautiful place! Weezer and Fall Out Boy crushed the 2nd night, as they always do!

Stopping for the obligatory “Festie Pic”

Day 3 ROCKED! I took a shot and asked for a few interviews, and was STOKED to get an interview with up & coming punk rockers Winona Fighter, check it out HERE…
AND legendary 90’s So Cal Ska Punk Rockers with a new legacy frontman, Jakob Nowell. Jake (as he introduced himself to me) is the son of the late OG Sublime frontman, Bradley Nowell, who passed when Jakob was just 11 months old. He counts his bandmates Eric and Bud as family, even referring to them as Uncles. To say these guys are laid back and awesome is an understatement! Felt really GREAT to catch their brand-new single “Ensenada” live for the first time…it was released just 2 days before!
Take a listen to the interview…

Day 3 also saw a Gen X dream line up including 311, Garbage, Blind Melon and Green Day closing out the fest in proper punk rock fashion!
Minnesota Yacht Club Fest was a well-organized and jam-packed curation of artists from across a ton of genres and generations, and everyone was so dang NICE!
As Fall Out Boy says “Thnks fr th Mmrs” Translation…Thanks for the Memories Minnesota Yacht Club! Our LIVE ROCK souls have been recharged!!!
And apparently the weekend was a success all around…the 3rd MYC Fest has already been set for July 17-19 2026! Grab all the details and be the first to know when 2026 MYC Tix go on sale just by clicking here >>> MYC 2026
I’m a sucker for a solid music fest! ~RoXy
