RoXy’s Rock Rewind

ON THIS DATE IN 2001 THE MIGHTY METAL MASTER METALLICA GOT IN THE STUDIO TO START RECORDING THEIR 8th STUDIO ALBUM, ST. ANGER. IT WAS METALLICA’S ONLY ALBUM AS AN OFFICIAL TRIO DUE TO BASSIST JASON NEWSTED LEAVING THE BAND BEFORE RECORDING AND ROBERT TRUJILLO HADN’T YET JOINED, BUT DOES GET CREDIT ON THE ALBUMS LINER NOTES. BUT WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT THE RECORDING OF ST ANGER IS THAT IT WAS POSTPONED LESS THAN A MONTH IN AFTER JAMES HETFIELD DECIDED TO GO TO REHAB FOR ALCOHOL AND VARIOUS OTHER ADDICTIONS…AND THE BAND ONLY WAS ABLE TO FINISH THE RECORDING WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A PSYCHOLOGIST WHO HELPED THE BAND TALKE OUT THEIR ISSUES IN GROUP THERAPY! WHO SAID THERAPY WAS FOR SISSIES?? SAY THAT TO JAMES HETFIELD’S FACE! WHILE ST ANGER GAINED THE BAND A GRAMMY, IT WAS A TOTAL DEPARTURE FROM THEIR SIGNATURE STYLE AND FEATURED NOT EVEN ONE GUITAR SOLO AND DIDN’T PLAY WELL ON THE RADIO…IT WAS A DEFINITE TIME OF CHANGE FOR THE MIGHTY METAL MASTERS AND THEY MADE IT THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE BETTER THAN EVER…SO REALLY, “NOTHING ELSE MATTERS” RIGHT? CRANK IT UP AND ROCK OUT WITH METALLICA’S ‘91 HIT SINGLE… ”NOTHING ELSE MATTERS”…IT’S ROXY’S ROCK REWIND ON 105.7 THE X IN THE 5 O CLOCK FREAK OUT!
