Sad news today in the world of Rock and Roll. Legendary Van Halen guitarist virtuoso and icon, Eddie Van Halen, has died at the age of 65. Eddie passed away on Tuesday morning, October 6th, after battling throat cancer for many years. Eddie was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.  Eddie led the band thru five decades, selling millions, and leading the charge with loads of Rock anthems that millions of Rock fans worshiped. Eddie, along with Brother Alex on Drums, and Michael Anthony on bass guitar, scored huge albums with singer David Lee Roth, and then with Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar. In recent years, the band had a series of sold out tours with David Lee Roth back in the band. They recorded a new album in 2012, titled “A Different Kind Of Truth.”

His son, Wolfgang Van Halen released the following statement, “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my Father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best Father I could ever ask for. Every moment I shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this loss.” Very sad day, indeed. Tributes on the X, and WGLO forthcoming.
