Core veteran guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante, played his first show with his band mates this past weekend, his first appearance with the band since the end of the 2007 tour. Frusciante, who famously played on the legendary albums, “Mother’s Milk”, “Blood Sugar Sex Magick”, “Californication”, along with the two albums in the early to mid 2000’s, “By The Way”, and “Stadium Arcadium”, strolled onstage with Anthony Kiedis and Flea, at the memorial for friend and producer Andrew Burkle. The band played the Chili Pepper’s legendary song “Give It Away”, along with “I Wanna Be Your Dog”, a cover of Iggy and the Stooges, and the Gang Of Four’s “”Not Great Men.” The show was an impromptu jam hosted by the Tony Hawke Foundation, as a tribute to Andrew Burkle. Only Chad Smith was missing from the Peppers lineup, who was unavailable to play. Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins filled in.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the return of Frusciante at the end of 2019, and the band is allegedly working on new material. With Frusciante back in the fold, former guitarist Josh Klinghoffer exited the band in December. Check out the video of the performance. Exciting times for Peppers fans!
