I’m so excited to announce that we have teamed up with SAMS-Stray Animal Midway Shelter for our pet of the week feature, now known as “Rockin Paws”. Every other week we will try and update you on a dog or cat that is looking for a place to simply call home. Adoption is amazing because SAMS can match you with an animal that is perfect to your lifestyle. They know these pets and can tell you their personality, and needs. They can tell you if they are good with children, need a lot of exercise, are lazy bums and just want to snuggle all day and that’s something you can’t get from buying. You CAN find puppies, you CAN find kittens, you CAN find purebreds but most of all you are SAVING the life of a furry friend.
IT’S KITTEN SEASON!!!
Cats can breed and give birth any time of year, however, most litters are born during warmer weather, this is what we call kitten season. Cats are prolific breeders, one estimate shows that ONE female cat and her offspring could produce over 400,000 cats in her life time!!!! It is critical that cats be spayed or neutered and not allowed to roam to reduce this overpopulation. Organizations like SAMS have low cost spay neuter programs to make this easier. SAMS spays and neuters all kittens before they go to new homes, they also receive appropriate vaccines, a microchip and testing for major diseases. Adoption fees for kittens are $100.
With that said this weeks Rockin Paws are about the kitties and we’ve got two of them for you today. Tune in to our Facebook Live video (today 4/12) on our facebook page here. Of course you can also always see our rockin kitty’s at SAMS Rescue, 328 S. Pinkerton Rd. Hanna City during adoption hours too. Without further ado…say hello to Batman (pictured) and Merle (tune in to facebook live). Batman just arrived at SAMS, he’s about 2 years old, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Merle is about a year old and has been at SAMS since he was a TINY BABY, it’s definitely time for him to go home.
Come meet either guy during SAMS adoption hours or you can fill out and online application on their website.
