So, I am a fan of Richard Linklater. He is responsible for many iconic movies over the years, and his topics are wide ranging. In 1994, he grabbed a nucleus of up and coming actors, and produced the legendary ‘Dazed and Confused’, a movie that has only grown in stature in the last twenty two years. That movie focused on 1975, and a small town with rebellious high school kids behaving badly. That soundtrack was epic, the music, the 70’s vibe, and the youth culture’s obsession with weed, girl chasing, and drinking, it was a perfect document of that era.
So, Richard Linklater has done it again. This Friday, he is doing another period piece, except this time it’s the 1980’s. He has written and directed ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’, another youth movement comedy on the era of the 80’s, complete with a cast of newcomers, like Blake Jenner, Tyler Hoechlin, Ryan Guzman. The movie is apparently hilarious, with epic performances from these fresh faced newcomers. The soundtrack is also going to be great. A snapshot of some amazing rock from the decade of decadence.
