The passing of David Bowie this past Sunday night has left the world void of one of the greatest musical visionaries of our time. Bowie’s contributions were boundless, he pushed the limits of creativity on a regular basis, and from 1971 thru the mid 1980’s, he simply dominated rock music with multiple award winning albums, that also sold millions and topped the charts with iconic songs. Just think ‘Ziggy Stardust’, ‘Changes’, ‘Rebel, Rebel’, ‘Golden Years’, ‘Fame’, the list is insane. He is going to be sorely missed.
In the last 36 hours, hordes of Rock royalty has given tribute to the man, and his music. He had best friends scattered all over the music industry, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Queen, just to name a few. So, before the world knew about his passing, there was already a concert for Bowie in the works, a ‘tribute’ show to his career and his music. The concert is now growing into one large scale tribute to his life and music. Artists like the Roots, Jakob Dylan, Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell, and many more are expected to play New York’s Carnegie Hall on March 31st. Bowie’s longtime producer Tony Visconti will lead the house band for the festivities. Stay tuned for more information on this growing tribute show.
