So, I don’t know if you are a ‘fan’ of Awards shows, but I, for one, haven’t ever really been entertained by these back slapping judgement calls of boredom, I mean, think about it, you are judging and awarding ‘art and music’, how is that really possible? This is why many actors and musicians don’t like to participate, but have to, based on their contracts and publicists demanding their involvement.
This past Sunday night, the worst rated Emmy Awards telecast was on FOX, and not only did this show fail with ratings, it wasn’t really entertaining at all. The host, Andy Samburg, tried too hard, and most of his jokes went over folks heads, or weren’t funny to begin with. You had staged bits, rambling speeches, famous people close ups, people acting like they were having a good time. Well, the show this year was supposed to have the FOO FIGHTERS perform. That sounds like a no brainer, right? WRONG.
Dave Grohl, the ‘Ambassador of Rock’, and rock star galore, has been ranting on social media about his band, the almighty ‘Foo Fighters’, and their ‘cancelled gig’ at the Emmy’s. What? The Foo’s were initially tabbed to play the Emmy’s, only to be dismissed and told by FOX that they weren’t being allowed to perform a ‘full song’ ‘Sonic Highways.’ What?? Whoops. Note to self, you don’t DISS Dave Grohl!!
“The band and the Academy were extremely happy and excited to have Foo Fighters play as the first ever rock band on the Emmy’s. Fox then refused to allow the band to play a full song from the Emmy-Award winning ‘Sonic Highways”, the band said in a statement. “That is why the band decided not to perform.” Again, FOX, what the hell we you thinking on that decision? Perhaps your slagging ratings and ‘tune out’ to most viewers would have been better if you promoted and made a big splash about the FOO’s playing? Maybe??
Dave Grohl is rightfully pissed, stay tuned for more updates! Rock!
