The only way you haven’t heard about the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie is if you’ve been living under a rock. Seriously.
Recently, a teaser for the film was shown and leaked out of Comic-Con, and now Warner Bros. has officially released it for our eyes to enjoy, and it is epic.
I’ll go ahead and be honest, I didn’t know what Suicide Squad was until a few months back when everybody and their mother kept talking about it. People explained it to me, and I was like ok, cool, another superhero movie, I’ll probably see it, whatever. No big deal to me. I’m no stranger to Marvel and DC comic books and such, but Suicide Squad is not something I’m familiar with. However, after watching this trailer a good several hundred times, I spent a couple hours online looking up every Suicide Squad storyline and character… Needless to say my boss was not pleased (Sorry Marris!) And now I’m hooked.
The trailer itself is fantastic. The eerie music, the crazy cast, just all of it is perfect. It really draws you into the chaotic world of these villains. Now we all have our opinion on the best Joker, some would say Heath Ledger, some are die hard Jack Nicholson fans, but hey, to each their own… I will say that Jared Leto has the crazy face down, and I am super pumped to see how he does. And, uhh, can we just talk about Harley Quinn for a minute??! In case you’re new to this (like I was), Harley Quinn is the hot blonde hanging upside from her jail cell with the pink and blue pigtails. Margot Robbie (you may recognize her as the hot wife in “The Wolf on Wall Street”) has managed to blend the perfect amount of sexy and crazy into one manic character. And dare I say she almost resembles a young Michelle Pfeiffer?
One other note, I love Will Smith. I would totally be his friend in real life, but something seems a little off about him being in this movie. There’s one scene where he’s in this hat and a big trench coat, and I don’t know, it just reminded me of “Wild Wild West”… Not sure how I feel about all this, but we’ll see.
The movie comes to theaters August 5, 2016. I’m seriously so bummed that I have to wait a whole year before this movie comes out! Ugh… First world problems.
Anyway, check out the trailer and see for yourself what all the hype is about. You won’t be disappointed.
