Here on the X, we treasure our bands that we love, and two of our ‘Monster’ bands that we have always coveted are coming out this year with new material. Both Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers are gearing up for new releases in this ‘Year Of Rock’, 2015! For Metallica, they are already busy, with festival appearances, and other marketing plans. As you know, they are headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago at Grant Park on August 1st.
For the Red Hot Chili Peppers, bass player and shirtless wonder FLEA has already tweeted that the new Peppers album is ‘funky and retro’ sounding, which is right up the alley of what fans want from the Red Hots. Both bands are now legacy acts, who are legends of their craft. Both bands started in the early 1980’s, and both were raw, intense, and slowly dominated as they grew into more mature bands. Both bands also suffered tragedies, and loss of band mates. Both have had a revolving door of new members coming in, and old members leaving. Through it all, both are also led by a duo within the band, who make the core decisions and keep the flame burning. For the Red Hots, that’s Flea and Anthony Kiedis, for Metallica, it’s Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. Bottom line, it’s awesome to know, as both bands are in their 50’s now, that they still are motivated to make music, and still have the desire to play live and kick ass for their fans. We will be waving the Chili Pepper and Metallica flags highly in 2015! Rawk!
