Metallica's Kirk Hammett Says Metallica Would 'Do Anything' to Help Green Day
6:14AM Monday
October 15, 2012

Billy Joe Armstrong Of Green Day has some great friends in the world of Rock and Roll. He has had many well wishes from fans and fellow artists world wide, as he battles substance abuse and stress in rehab. His meltdown last month at the I-Heart Music Festival in Las Vegas has been well documented. His band mates have all stated that the press and appearances for their new album '!Uno!' propelled Billy Joe into a manic schedule that resulted in little sleep, and a dependence on sleeping aides and drinking. We all wish him the best. However, in a moment of pure clarity, one band has emerged as true friends of Green Day. Metallica.

Yep, Kirk Hammett of Metallica was quoted over the weekend saying that the band was asked to fill in for Green Day at the Voodoo Music Exprience in New Orleans next week. Metallica not only said yes, but also said thast they would do anything to help Billy Joe in his time of need. "We love Billy Joe, we love GreenDay and we'd do anything to help them out and we said 'Sure, let's hlep out friends in their time of need.' " Pretty kick ass. The one thing about rock artists is their big hearts. Despite the tough exterior and attitude, rockers are always there to help people in need. Just think of Live Aid, Farm Aid, and all of the fund raising shows from various rockers over the years. In t his case, it's one band helping another, and that is pretty awesome. Way to go, Metallica!
