What’s going on Xers? I am Marris, your night host on the X. By now you should have heard about “Marris ‘Til Midnight.” You can catch me from 7 to Midnight, every night, when you are working late, studying late, or just out partying like I know you like to do.
If you know anything about me, you know that I am an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, which makes for a lot of fun living in Central Illinois. It feels good to be able to talk trash now that my teams are finally not in last place every year. I have no idea why I chose Detroit as a youngster, but as you Cubs fans know, once a fan always a fan. I am also insanely passionate about soccer. If you are trying to find me during the Word Cup or any other major tournaments, I am mostly likely at a bar or pub with my European friends screaming at a TV.
Growing up, I spent my early years in Ohio and most of my life in what I assume is the smallest Chicago suburb, Berkeley. Bradley University brought me to Peoria, where I graduated somewhere in the middle of my class. My junior year is when I began interning for the X, where I was introduced to what radio is all about: dancing on bars with the Sexy Xies, trading shirts with who ever asked, and having my ears ring for three days after our concerts.
Many of you Xers ask do I really like Rock n Roll. I’m not sure why this question comes up more than why am I a Detroit fan, but the answer is simple, F*** Yeah! I love all music to put it simply, but when it comes to rock, Linkin Park isright at the top for me. I got my inspiration for my show title from their album Minutes To Midnight (Marris ‘Til Midnight). I love everything that rocks but if I had to name a few favorites, obviously Linkin Park is on top, followed by P.O.D., Red, Mute Math, Foo Fighters, Sevendust, Incubus, Skillet and of course I have a ton of love for Peoria’s very own Mindset Evolution.
So when you hear your favorite Hot Chocolate on air, Crank Your Radios Up! If you hear that I am out at a bar, you better drop your plans and come party. It will be a night filled with beers, boobs, and badass music.
