Watch Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players Perform “Mantra” in Studio

Dave Grohl is sharing some exclusive footage that was recorded while he was making his documentary, Sound City. The eight-minute clip, which is currently streaming at RollingStone.com, features a live studio performance of an instrumental version of “Mantra,” a song Grohl recorded with Sound City Players members Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch NailsTrent Reznor for the film’s soundtrack, Sound City -- Real to Reel.

Your next chance to see Grohl’s Sound City Players will be at the South by Southwest music festival. Grohl recently announced that the band will rock the stage at Stubb’s in Austin, Texas on March 14.

Accompanying Grohl for the concert will be Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, Fear frontman Lee Ving, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes and Masters of Reality’s Chris GossThe Meat Puppets will be the opening act.

While Sound City is now available at all digital retailers, Sound City -- Real to Reel will arrive at all the usual outlets on Tuesday.
